The relationship between higher education and occupation has been a continuous, albeit tenuous, one. We’ve seen in our discussions on history, credentialization, and college priorities that what happens within the ivory walls is shaped, to some degree, by workforce demands. However, these demands take time to trickle up and become financial realities for the administers in charge.

Universities are slow to change, but it’s not necessarily their fault. Society is slow to change and is likely more to blame for the snail-like progress of our species than the institutions…
