Say “No” To Everything

If you have never worked through Warren Buffet’s 5/25 strategy, I highly recommend the exercise as it will help you clarify exactly what you should be putting your attention towards.

Let me give you a quick summary of the exercise.

First, write out 25 of your highest priority goals. These should all be items you expect/hope to accomplish in the next few years.

Next, place the list in order of what is most important to you at the top, and what is least important at the bottom.

Now, cross out numbers 6–25. These no longer get ANY of your attention. In fact, these become items you must avoid at all costs.

Going forward, all of your attention must unapologetically go towards your top 5 goals. Only once you achieve one of those goals can you replace it with one of the crossed off items.

This is an immensely powerful exercise, and the main reason “no” has become my default response these past few years. I can attribute much of my prolific output (20+ books written, 3+ online courses created, etc.) directly to this practice.

Give it a try and see what it can do for you.
